In June 2019, Dr. Hellgren joined the faculty in the Department of Family Medicine and Rural Health as an Assistant Professor. She is the Medical Director at FSU PrimaryHealthTM, where she also serves as a Primary Care Physician. Dr. Hellgren has been in Tallahassee since 1990 and completed her Residency in Family Medicine in 1993 at the Tallahassee Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program. Since her graduation, she has been in private practice as a Family Physician at Patients First Parkway in Tallahassee for the past 26 years. She was the Medical Director of Patients First Parkway from 1997 through 2016. During her time at Patients First, she has been involved with medical education, as a preceptor at the Tallahassee Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program and for first through third-year medical students from the FSU College of Medicine. She also has been involved locally as a two-time President of Capital Medical Society, Chairman of the TMH Family Medicine Department, and currently serves on committees for the Capital Medical Society, Capital Health Plan, and Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. She is also a member of the Capital Medical Society Foundation Board, which oversees the local "We Care Program" for the medically underserved.
