Dr. Beitsch's focus is on Health Policy and Public Health. He is also affiliated with the Center for Medicine and Public Health.

Prior to joining the College of Medicine, Dr. Beitsch was Commissioner of Health for the State of Oklahoma, serving in that capacity from June 2001 until November 2003. Before that time he held several positions within the Florida Department of Health for 12 years, most recently Deputy Secretary. He is past chair of the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine, serving in this capacity from October 2013 until December 2020 and retired from full-time service in August 2021.
