Job Description
Dr. Samra is currently responsible for teaching the students and clinical faculty how to incorporate medical informatics and especially the electronic medical resources offered by FSU College of Medicine into the daily practice of medicine. She also manages the organizational aspects of the school-wide third year medical students' Quality Improvement project course which falls under the pervue of the D3 course. This also entails serving as advisor for all the Quality Improvement projects at the Sarasota Regional Campus each academic year.
Biosketch
Early in her career, Dr. Samra was in private practice. For 14 1/2 years, she was a faculty member at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla. During the first eight years, her principal role was that of Medical Student Program Coordinator for the Third- and Fourth-year Medical Students from the University of South Florida at All Children's. During that time, she was active on the Council of Medical Student Education in Pediatrics (COMSEP) and hosted their national meeting in 1996. While at All Children's, she was as attending physician on both the inpatitent and outpatient services for the pediatric residency program. She spent the final 6 1/2 years as one of the founding Medical Co-Directors for the All Children's at Sarasota Memorial Hospital Pediatric Affiliation establishing and developing that pediatric hospitalist program. Her special clinical interest is in pediatric dermatology. While with All Children's she helped to develop and run a pediatric dermatology clinic for five years.
At FSU College of Medicine, Dr. Samra was the inaugural Pediatric Clerkship Director from 2005-20018.

Over the years, Dr. Samra has served on multiple educational committees (relating to residents and medical students) at All Children's Hospital, the University of South Florida, and COMSEP. At Sarasota Memorial Hospital, she served on several committees. Community activities included working with groups of high school students interested in careers in health care. She routinely contributes as a member of the FSU College of Medicine Medical Library and Learning Resources Committee. In Sarasota, she represents FSU College of Medicine as a committee member of the Sarasota County Community Health Improvement Plan, Florida Department of Health-Sarasota County as well as being on additional subcommittees.
Honors/Awards
At FSU College of Medicine, Dr. Samra has received both the Gold Humanism Award & the Guardian of the Mission Community Faculty Award for Sarasota Regional Campus.
