Matt Jamnik, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral scholar in the FSU College of Medicine's Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine (BSSM). He earned his doctoral degree in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from the Department of Psychology at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (2016–2021), specializing his doctoral training in developmental psychology (focus: childhood) and behavioral genetics (twin studies). Broadly, his research examines salient individual (biological/genetic) factors and environmental influences (e.g., family, peer, sociocultural), both individually and jointly, that relate to “healthy functioning” (physical, mental, socioemotional) in childhood and beyond. His recent research focuses on middle-aged and older adults with neurofibromatosis type I (NF1).

He is proficient with advanced statistical analysis, including multilevel linear modeling, structural equation modeling and other, varying family-based designs (e.g., sibling comparison), using SPSS, Mplus, and R.  He has first-authored five publications in refereed journals, such as Frontiers in Psychology, Developmental Psychobiology and Journal of Genetic Psychology, and is an ad hoc reviewer for several other academic publications, including Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Development and Psychopathology, SAGE Open: Psychology and Teaching and Learning in Medicine.
