COLLEGE OF MEDICINE EDUCATION & ADMINISTRATION BUILDING NAMED FOR JOHN THRASHER The College of Medicine Education & Administration building was named for John Thrasher during a ceremony Jan. 14 in the lobby of the medical school. As Speaker of the Florida House in 2000, Thrasher led the passage of legislation establishing the medical school. The ceremony was held just prior to Thrasher's last meeting as chair of the FSU Board of Trustees. FSU President T.K. Wetherell presented Thrasher with a framed pen and ink drawing of the John Thrasher building at the medical school.

BUILDING DEDICATION CEREMONY TO BE HELD MARCH 18 A dedication ceremony for the College of Medicine will be held at noon on Friday, March 18. Invitations will be sent out as the event gets nearer. A College of Medicine open house has been scheduled for the following day, Saturday, March 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tours will be offered to the public during the open house.

SARASOTA REGIONAL CAMPUS OPENS DOORS TO PUBLIC The FSU Regional Medical School Campus - Sarasota will be hosting an open house Thursday, March 3, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sarasota is the most recent addition to the medical school's regional campus system, through which third- and fourth-year medical students receive their clinical training alongside practicing community physicians. Nine third-year students have been assigned to the Sarasota campus and will arrive in July. An invitation-only reception will be held at the campus for special guests Wednesday, March 2.
>CLASS OF 2008 STUDENT HONORED WITH NATIONAL SCHOLAR-ATHLETE AWARD
CLASS OF 2008 STUDENT HONORED WITH NATIONAL SCHOLAR-ATHLETE AWARD First-year FSU medical student Lindsay Hinson-Knipple was a women's winner of the 18th annual Woody Hayes National Scholar-Athlete Award for excellence in academics, athletics and community service. Hinson-Knipple graduated Summa Cum Laude from Wingate University with a 4.00 GPA in biology and earned an all-conference volleyball selection in 2002 and 2003.
