CONNECTING WITH SENIOR ARTISTS
(cont'd) |
|
The center, founded in 1980, provides a supportive environment for beginning
and advanced senior artists to receive guidance from experienced
instructors. From a broader perspective, the Senior Artist Project helps to
enhance understanding of what geriatric medicine is by illustrating the
diverse talents of older adults, who benefit from their involvement in such
activities.
The College of Medicine works with groups such as the
Tallahassee Senior Center for the Arts and the Tallahassee Senior Center
with support from a Donald W. Reynolds Foundation grant. The grant is
intended to enhance the use of concepts in geriatric medicine throughout the
College of Medicine curriculum.
Many of the paintings can be seen online at the
Senior Art Project web site.
