National Advisory Allergy and Infectious Diseases Council of the NIH,
lending expertise on matters ranging from allergic and immunologic diseases
and disorders, to microbiology and infectious diseases and biodefense
research. … Nadine Dexter, associate director of public services for the
Charlotte Edwards Maguire Medical Library, is one of five people nationwide
selected to participate in the 2006-2007 National Library of
Medicine/Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries Leadership
Fellows Program. … Dr. Patrick Hutton, president of the Florida Medical
Association, spoke at the College of Medicine in October, telling faculty
and students of his
goal to address health care for the uninsured and underinsured and
disparities in health care among minority populations. … Dr. David White,
who helped develop clinical programs for the Program in Medical Sciences at
FSU for 14 years through 1986, died in October in Knoxville, Tenn., from
injuries sustained in an automobile accident. White established a clinic in
the basement of a Tallahassee church where low-income residents could be
treated for diabetes and hypertension, which helped to introduce PIMS
students to clinical medicine. |
