Paik, research assistant professor in the department, is the recipient of a
$213,000 National Institutes of Health grant through which she hopes to get
a better understanding of the processes believed to be involved in cancer
prevention in humans.
Stefanovic, an
assistant professor in the department, has received a $143,000 two-year
grant from the Scleroderma Foundation for his proposal to study cloning and
characterization of RNA binding proteins which regulate expression of Type I
collagen in scleroderma patients. Scleroderma is a chronic, often
progressive, autoimmune disease in which a person’s immune system attacks
his or her own body. |
