Bertolette has been a pediatrician in Vero Beach since
1979 and Dunn has been running a family medicine practice while also serving
as medical director for the city of Daytona Beach. “It really rings home for
me,’’ Dunn said of the community-based model of medical education in which
he now will work. “It really is an exciting opportunity to train physicians
in a way that is very exciting. Most of us had to learn the hard way.’’ “I was aware from the medical school’s formation that
it was going to be different. I was interested in being involved right from
the beginning,’’ said Bertolette, who is a Florida Medical Association board
member. Dunn and Bertolette have begun work in their new roles on a
part-time basis while they help their old patients find new physicians and
prepare to leave their practices. |
