The results were
announced Jan. 31 at The National Academies in Washington, D.C. Johnson,
recognized as one of the world’s leading experts on methods to assess and
improve patient adherence to diabetes regimens and psychological aspects of
genetic testing for type 1 diabetes, helped to identify obstacles frequently
encountered in international research.
The goal of the workshop, organized by the U.S. National Committee for
Psychological Science, was to explore guidelines for international
collaborations in the social and behavioral sciences and encourage U.S.
involvement in international research collaborations. Additionally, the goal
is to persuade funding organizations to give more and better-targeted
support to international behavioral and social sciences research.
