The FSU Medical Alumni board is currently seeking nominations for the both the 2021 Hall of Fame class and the 2021-2023 alumni board officers and positions.
The FSU Medical Alumni Hall of Fame recognizes graduates of the College of Medicine and Program in Medical Sciences for their outstanding contributions to the health of all people through patient care, basic research, clinical research and/or health services administration and the demonstration of the high principles of the medical profession. Nominations are due by February 28. Click here for more info.
The purpose of the FSU Medical Alumni board is to engage alumni in the advancement of the College of Medicine and to be a resource for creativity and input. Nominations are due by February 22. Students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the college can nominate alumni for both the Hall of Fame and the FSU Medical Alumni board. Click here for more info.

Beesley, Yuan earn awards from Toffler Scholar Program
|

In October, 2020, the College of Medicine received a $30,000 grant from The Karen Toffler Charitable Trust (KTCT). KTCT provided the funding through its Toffler Scholar Program, which partners with universities and research organizations working to advance high-impact, early-stage medical research.
The College of Medicine selected Stephen Beesley, postdoctoral fellow at the College of Medicine, and Xuegang Yuan, a postdoctoral research associate from the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering, as Toffler Scholar Program awardees.

Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the College of Medicine's GME programs

The Florida Pediatrician published an article in its Winter 2021 edition that focuses on the challenges, innovations and opportunities that the pandemic brought to the FSU College of Medicine's graduate medical education programs.
The article was written by Joan Younger Meek, dean of the Orlando Regional Campus and associate dean for graduate medical education; Karen Hamad, Sarasota clerkship faculty member; FSU residency program directors Wilhelmine Wiese-Rometsch and Alfred Gitu; and resident physician and College of Medicine alumna Tatianna Pizzutto (M.D. '18).
