Jonathan S. Appelbaum, M.D., has been named the Laurie L. Dozier Jr., M.D., Education Director and Professor of Internal Medicine. Faculty Council Faculty and Staff Awards also have been announced, and many faculty have received grants and other awards, making noteworthy contributions to medicine.

During the May 18 commencement ceremony, 113 members of the Class of 2013 received their M.D. degrees, and 13 Bridge students became a part of the Class of 2017. Several students joined the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and many students received awards and scholarships.

The memorial fund of Air Force Capt. Mindy Stephenson (M.D., ’12) for Daytona Beach Regional Campus orientation has reached more than $14,000. Also, the Alumni Board is developing a Medical Student Alumni Association, and the HOST program continues to help current medical students reach their goals.
